Aerobiome Foundations Course

Spring Semester 2025

Mondays from 1:00 - 3:00 PM; Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 AM (LAB)

Johnson Hall 129, One Health Conference Room

Course Description

The microscopic organisms inhabiting the atmosphere collectively form the aerobiome. These organisms play important roles in ecosystem diversity and health, disease outbreaks, and potentially in the Earth’s hydrologic cycle.

The Aerobiome Foundations course uses an interdisciplinary approach to understand which microscopic organisms are in the atmosphere, how they became airborne, factors that affect their survival and transport, the relationship between the aerobiome and terrestrial ecosystems, and other topics.
